Nigerian hip-hop artist Gneric, hailing from Edo State, is making waves with her latest EP, I Found My Sound. This four-track project marks a significant evolution in her musical journey, blending introspective lyrics with bold expression.​

Gneric's roots are in Nigeria's underground battle rap scene, where she honed her skills alongside notable figures like Dabu The Gemini. Since her debut in 2023, she has transitioned into a storyteller, drawing inspiration from artists such as Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, and Little Simz. Her music is characterised by vulnerability, resilience, and a deep connection to Nigerian culture.​

The EP reflects a personal journey, with each track representing different facets of her experiences. "Road," for instance, emerged from an impromptu studio session with Northern Nigerian rapper ILLANOID, while "This Spot" showcases her spoken-word roots. Gneric views battle rap as a form of poetry, influencing her unique music approach.​
