Nigerian music has secured its place on the global stage, evolving into a cultural force that resonates far beyond the country’s borders. Each year, a fresh wave of breakout artists emerge, looking to leave their mark within the industry while powered by community. Many of these rising voices gain traction through social media, grassroots support, and the underground scenes that give them space to refine their craft. The Kickback has emerged as a standout platform intentionally built to nurture this energy, and after three exhilarating editions, the team is gearing up for its fourth event coming November 22.
Nigeria’s Rising Global Influence
Founded early in 2025, The Kickback was born from the simple idea that vibrant, breakout artists should not have to wait for major festivals or industry co-signs to be seen, heard or celebrated. Opportunity should not be scarce, and community shouldn’t be an afterthought. This belief led Boluwatife “Bliizzy” Adebanjo, Anthony Ogundiya, Daniel Christopher Edet, and Clarence MacEbong to build The Kickback as a home for artists ready to take the next step in their journey.
Across its first three shows, The Kickback stage has spotlighted a vibrant roster of acts shaping Nigeria’s new school. Dynamic duo Semzi & Easyscope, alongside a range of talents like Tsuni, Ebun Yele, Fimi, Kjuni, Soundz, Bliizzy, and Bizzonthetrack, amongst others, have all brought their unique music and energy to the platform. In a short period, the event has developed a strong following, drawing both music lovers searching for fresh voices and artists eager to connect with a receptive crowd.
The industry has taken notice as well. Executives and talent scouts regularly attend, recognizing The Kickback as fertile ground for discovering partnerships, collaborations, and potential signings. “Young, unsigned artists will always need a platform to showcase their art,” says Bolu “Bliizzy” Adebanjo, recording artist and multidisciplinary creative. “We believe The Kickback can be a starting point for artists who need the eyes and the community.”
