Veteran Gospel Musician Pitson Signs Licensing Deal With Umg Ea + New Album Set To Drop On 7th March 2025

Veteran Kenyan gospel artist Pitson, known for iconic hits like "Lingala Ya Yesu" and "Uvumilivu," has signed a licensing deal with Universal Music Group East Africa (UMG EA).

This partnership will see Universal Music Group East Africa oversee the distribution and promotion of Pitson's extensive music catalog, reaching wider audiences both locally and internationally.

“I am happy and blessed to be part of the UMG family. God has seen me through the music industry thus far and this is another sign of His grace and love that I will choose to walk with Him” Pitson mentions.

Hitting the floor running, the award-winning singer has announced an album with the esteemed record label titled ‘Brand New Me’ set for March 7th that marks a return into the music fray following a stint off the grid.

“I decided to take a break from music and take time for personal growth. I’m excited to embark on this journey and share some songs I have written over the years that will restore faith and hope to my fans and believers” Pitson mentions of the new album.

Speaking on the signing of the “Niache Niimbe” singer, Universal Music Group East Africa General Manager Chinasa Udeala expressed his excitement at working with one of the country’s revered Gospel acts.

ABOUT PITSON:

Pitson was first introduced to music at an early age by his father, who mentored and tutored him to play the guitar. He’d pick up the skill and sing in high school, forming his first band then. While at Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) where he pursued Bachelor’s of Commerce, he sang at the christian Union.

As he worked on his craft, he’d sing alongside his friend, who’d become his band members. Forming the band, ‘Brothers Under God’s Grace’ shaped his music career and slowly placed him as a contemporary gospel musician. After working with the band between 2004 and 2011 he went solo, writing music for other artists and working as a background vocalist. During that stint, he worked with veteran gospel artists such as ‘Kuna Dawa’ hitmaker Esther Wahome and ‘Taunet Nelel’ hitmaker Emmy Koskei.

After his higher education, he pursued a career as a banker, and later quit to focus on music. He shot to fame with his afro-fusion hit song ‘Lingala Ya Yesu’ that solidified him as a unique urban gospel artist. Other songs that speareaded his fame were ‘Niache Niimbe’ and ‘Kilele.’ Now a Reverend, Pitson misters through music, his latest project ‘Pale Ulipo,’ featuring Karura Voices, is gaining traction.

Pitson has garnered over 8 million views on YouTube throughout his solo career that began in 2013 officially.
