Muyiwa & Riversongz have released a fresh take on their iconic anthem, “Hey Ya.” The track, originally inspired by the spiritual practices of American Indians, has been reimagined by acclaimed producer Emmanuel Sampah, infusing it with the vibrant sounds of Amapiano.

The original “Hey Ya,” released in 2007, was a collaboration with renowned producer Eddie Martin (Kwesi Jones). Recorded live at London’s Ocean music venue, the song captured the raw energy and spiritual fervour of a sold-out performance. It has since become a staple in the gospel music landscape, known for its ability to uplift and inspire.

Emmanuel Sampah, a master of blending genres, has breathed new life into the classic. His remix seamlessly merges the soul of the original with contemporary Amapiano rhythms, creating a dynamic and infectious sound. “I wanted to honor the heart of the original while bringing in fresh elements that reflect where music is today,” Sampah explained. “This remix bridges the past and the future.”

Muyiwa added, “This song is a testament to the power of faith and joy. To see it remixed and still resonate so strongly is truly a blessing.”

“Hey Ya” celebrates the joy of faith and pushes the boundaries of gospel music.
