Nollywood’s Week: New DStv Prices, ‘The Four’, and a Box Office Still Short of a Record
DStv Nigeria’s new prices run from ₦6,000 to ₦44,500 from 5 November. Facebook is backing premieres of ‘The Four’. The ₦15.28 billion box-office total is not yet a record.

Three money stories are on the Nollywood desk this week. Two of them are confirmed. The third is a total, and a record that has not been called.
DStv, from 5 November
DStv’s Nigeria page, dated 27 October in the radar, lists the packages that take effect on 5 November 2026. Starter is ₦6,000 a month. Select is ₦11,000. Sports is ₦21,000. Premium is ₦44,500. Migration is automatic and phased. Africa Magic Showcase, M-Net Movies+ and M-Net Stars move into Starter and Select. Nollywood Distilled also carried the prices on 1 November. Report 11 had listed Nigerian prices as unknown. This run is the confirmation.
The radar’s analysis: pay-TV pricing affects how Nollywood reaches mass audiences before December. That is a reading. The prices are the fact, from DStv’s own page and a second outlet.
‘The Four’, London and Lagos
TheCable Lifestyle, on 29 October, reports that Facebook will support the world premiere of Funke Akindele’s ‘The Four’ in London and the homecoming premiere in Lagos. The film opens in cinemas on 11 December. The report quotes Meta’s Oluwasola Obagbemi. The words of that quote are not in the sources HNA opened for this desk, so they are not reconstructed here. Credible News repeated the story on 1 November. The London premiere date was not in the sources HNA opened.
The box office, still short of a call
The radar’s developing list carries one confirmed total from Report 11: ₦15.28 billion to 29 October. The weekend of 30 October to 1 November had not been published when Report 12 was written, and that weekend is on the excluded list for that reason. The radar says the next update could confirm the 2026 record. It does not print the record figure, and it does not say the record has already fallen.
What would raise it, in the desk’s own line: a digest or FilmOne confirming a new record. Until that note exists, ₦15.28 billion is a total to 29 October. It is not a record announcement. HNA does not have Report 11’s underlying table in this packet, so the figure is used only as Report 12 states it.
AFRIFF’s opening, which is the other half of this film week, is its own story. Best of Nollywood nomination counts are in one newspaper in the radar. They stay in the briefing, marked single-source, and are not treated as settled here.
